Evacuation Fund

During your visit, the lodge has engaged the support of dedicated on-site 3SIXTY5 Medical personnel during your visit.  While wilderness and adventure activities carry inherent risks, 3SIXTY5 Medical are committed to supporting our participants in the event of unexpected medical issues and emergency situations.

Our personnel can typically treat most medical incidents on-site however in the event of a medical emergency, evacuation by specialized transport (helicopter, or other means) may be determined to be required by the 3SIXTY5 Medical Director and this evacuation is a cost that must be borne by the individual experiencing the medical emergency. Medical emergencies requiring evacuation to a higher level of care occur every season.

To help ensure that rapid assistance is available when it matters most, 3SIXTY5 has established a Medical Evacuation Fund (the “Fund”) designated to cover on-site urgent medical care and stabilization resulting from injuries or health events occurring during your lodge trip and cover, or supplement, the cost of critical emergency evacuations by helicopter, where possible, to the nearest appropriate emergency medical facility.

If you do not participate in the Fund, you accept full responsibility for any and all costs of evacuation, in transit treatment, supplies, and related expenses which may be between CAD $5000 - $10,000 and typically must be agreed to before services are rendered.

Key details:

  • By contributing a daily fee of CAD $15 (~US$11) per individual, you will be enrolled in the Fund.

  • If designated 3SIXTY5 Medical personnel, including the on-call Medical Director, determine that immediate evacuation is medically necessary for a higher critical level of care, the Fund will cover 100% of the direct costs of approved evacuation, including:

    • Charter fee for helicopter and flight crew to the nearest medical facility.

    • Medical personnel (e.g., flight paramedics, nurses) and onboard equipment as available and required.

    • Fuel, landing fees, navigation fees and aircraft handling fees.

  • If you opt to decline participation in the Fund and evacuation is required, you will be solely responsible for all related costs.

  • The Fund also includes the costs of on-site emergency medical assistance and stabilization efforts.

  • The Fund is intended to assist with costs not immediately covered by insurance or emergency responders.

  • BC residents with MSP may have helicopter evacuation included in some cases, but requests must go through the proper 911 channels and be handled by Search and Rescue. This may not be timely or at all practical.  Participation in the Fund bypasses that potentially lengthy process and avoids relying on volunteer SAR resources. Instead, 3SIXTY5 coordinates directly with our helicopter provider for the fastest possible evacuation.

Conditions for Fund Coverage

 Evacuation coverage applies only if:

 1. Medical Director Approval – An evacuation must be explicitly requested and approved by the on-call Medical Director or Designate after assessing the medical situation in consultation with on-site 3SIXTY5 Medical personnel.

 2. Imminent Threat to life or limb – The Medical Director or Designate must determine that the medical emergency poses a significant and immediate threat to life or limb of the individual and that evacuation is required to mitigate this threat.

 3. The Fund Fee must be paid before the start of your trip.

 4. The Fund is only available for certain designated locations where 3SIXTY5 Medical provides services and offers the Fund.

The fund does not cover:

  • Non-emergency evacuations (e.g., inconvenience or minor injuries, unapproved or non-urgent medical reasons, other injuries not considered emergency by the 3SIXTY5 Medical Director and its on-site staff).

  • Pre-existing conditions unless explicitly waived.

  • Incidents arising from reckless behavior or intoxication.

  • Hospital treatment or subsequent medical bills.

  • Transport of non-essential personnel.

  • Ground ambulance transfer when necessary from airport to hospital.

It should be noted that the decision to fly is made under the guidance of 3SIXTY5 Medical’s Medical Director or Designate and helicopter rescue is also only available subjected to the helicopter providers determination of flight safety.

In addition, we strongly encourage all participants to carry comprehensive travel and medical insurance, including evacuation coverage, as the Fund is not a substitute for personal insurance but an additional safety net for time sensitive medical situations.
